Phase One: Customization
During the first phase of the project, we successfully customized the XD templates to reflect individual client needs, integrating various goals from task-oriented to promotion-focused designs. Our work ensured a user-centric design that was both intuitive and closely aligned with the specific needs of utility providers. Collaborating closely with the internal team at Powerful, we met all deadlines and maintained a consistent quality of work, adhering to brand style guidelines.
Migration to Figma
However, shortly after the completion of the first phase, Powerful approached us with a request to migrate their design work into Figma. Embracing this challenge, we executed a full migration of their templates into Figma, a task I spearheaded. The migration process not only transferred the existing templates but significantly enhanced them by building 8 variable sets, each comprising 3 to 8 sub-themes. Additionally, I created 8 different component sets for the themes, tailor-made to suit the versatile needs of Powerful's clients.
Enhancing Design with Figma
This migration to Figma and the creation of variable sets and component sets brought about a transformation in Powerful's design process. By leveraging Figma's capabilities, we were able to introduce a level of efficiency and scalability that was previously unattainable. The use of variable sets in Figma allowed for easy adjustments and customization across different themes, significantly speeding up the design process by enabling rapid changes that automatically applied across multiple instances. This scalability ensured that the designs could evolve in tandem with the clients' growing needs, without necessitating a redesign from scratch.
The Benefits of Using Figma Variables

Furthermore, the introduction of Figma variables offered other substantial benefits, including improved consistency across designs, the ability to test and iterate designs more quickly, and enhanced collaboration among team members. Figma's collaborative environment allowed for real-time feedback and adjustments, streamlining the workflow and reducing the time from concept to completion.
